Mr. Bernard Nkem Ekwe studied Accountancy from the Rivers State University of Science & Technology, Port Harcourt in 1991 where he made a Second Class Upper Division and he later bagged a Masters degree in Business Administration with specialization in Management from the same Institution in the year 2000.
He is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).
Mr. Ekwe began his career as an Audit Trainee in 1991 in Olusola Adekanola & Co. (Chartered Accountants) in Ilorin, Kwara state and later joined Remm Oil Services Limited at Trans Amadi in Port Harcourt as an Accountant between 1993 – February, 1994.
Mr. started his banking career in March 1994 when he joined AllStates Trust Bank Plc and held different positions ranging from Accounting Officer, Cash Officer to Head of Accounts. He left AllStates Trust Bank Plc for Standard Trust Bank Plc in February 2000. His wealth of experience afforded him the opportunity to head different units & departments which included Inspections, Regulatory Compliance & Investigations, Audit & Compliance and Branch Audit Group, between February 2000 & July 2005.
He joined United Bank for Africa Plc in August 2005 as the Head of Credit Audit.
Mr. Ekwe has strong numerate and analytical skills and has excellent skills in the use of the Audit Command Language (ACL) as a Computer Aided Audit Technique (CAAT). He has handled special assignments which included membership of the Risk Management Committee of the UBA/STB Merger and the institution of an Effective Risk Management & Control Process in the Heirs Insurance Company Limited (a subsidiary of Standard Trust Bank Plc, now UBA).
He left United Trust Bank for Africa (UBA) in November, 2005 for Trustfund Pensions Plc where he brings his strong passion for excellence, professionalism and value creation to head the Operations Division. |
